DW PARTNERS NICE IN MEDIA INFORMATION LITERACY

The DW Akademie recently partnered NICE to train social media influencers, journalists and NICE officers on Media information literacy. The training aimed at building capacity of participants on how NICE and others can use social media platforms for their day to day work.
The project was funded by Deutsche Welle (DW). The social media Power to Empower training was conducted in three days in Lilongwe. This involved the participants doing exercises on how they can use social media to communicate to difference audiences. The training was managed and conducted by facilitators from Media and Information Literacy Learning Initiative (MILLI).
Trainees had their capacity built in ensuring that they use the social media to empower others by disseminating the correct information. The training brought together local social media influencers and journalists from Bwaila Media Club who are partners of NICE. In its work as civic educators NICE uses many ways of information dissemination and the social media platforms for staff is one. DW also trained participants on how they can effectively use social media to dispel misinformation.
