ETHIOPIAN DELEGATES ON A LEARNING VISIT AT NICE

National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Trust Malawi is hosting a delegation from Ethiopia through a collaboration with GIZ. The aim of the visit was to learn more about NICE Trust and its role in promoting civic education and citizen participation in Malawi.
During the visit, the delegation will learn about the role of NICE Trust in promoting civic awareness, citizen participation, and democratic values across Malawi. NICE Trust will share its experience on how it works with other partners in a number of things. The visiting delegation will also learn approaches to civic education, community mobilisation, and citizen engagement.
The delegation has come at a time when the country is preparing for by-elections, they will have a first hand experience on how NICE collaborates with the Malawi Electoral Commission to support voter education and ensure that citizens are well informed.
NICE Trust works closely with a wide range of stakeholders including government institutions, civil society organisations, community leaders, youth and women’s groups, development partners, and electoral bodies, ensuring that civic education reaches communities across the country and contributes to credible and peaceful elections.
The visit provided an important learning opportunity for the delegation to better understand how civic education institutions operate, how communities can be effectively mobilised, and how collaboration with stakeholders can strengthen democratic participation and electoral processes.
