March 2026 By-Elections: Polling Day

Voting is currently in progress across all four constituencies and nine wards participating in today’s by-elections. Early reports are showing rains in almost all the electoral areas.Since the opening of polling stations this morning, voters have been arriving  to cast their votes. Many centres have reported orderly queues, with voters demonstrating patience and a strong commitment to participating in the democratic process.

Election officials in the polling centres are actively overseeing operations at all polling centres, providing clear guidance to voters and ensuring that electoral procedures are followed correctly. Assistance is also being provided to elderly voters and individuals requiring special support, ensuring inclusivity throughout the exercise.

There is notable security presence has been deployed across voting locations. Security personnel are working closely with election authorities to maintain order and ensure that the voting environment remains safe and secure. Their visibility has contributed to a sense of confidence among voters, allowing them to participate without fear or disruption.In addition,  political party monitors and local electoral observers are present in several centres, tracking the process and helping uphold transparency and accountability.

While turnout has been steady throughout the morning, a larger influx of voters is anticipated also afternoon hours. Meanwhile NICE Trust continues to urge all registered voters to take part in the elections before the close of polling at 16:00hrs, emphasizing the importance of every vote in shaping local representation.
