NICE hosts African Union pre-electoral observer team
The National Initiative for Civic Education recently hosted the African Union pre-election assessment team at the Trust’s secretariat in Lilongwe. Among other things the AU team got to know what the role of NICE in elections, observation and peace building.
Commenting after the meeting, NICE Civic Education Programmes Officer Christopher Naphiyo said the team wanted to know the methodologies that NICE uses in civic education. The team also was interested in the history, current contribution and real challenges and role in election observation and peace building.
The team was also interested in other issues that may impact on the conduct and outcome of the General Election that may be categorized as potential and real challenges and threats and also potential remedies.
NICE has also met the European Union international assessment pre-election team. These meetings are happening as the country will be holding elections on 16th September 2025.
