NICE IN CONTINENTAL BODY STEERING COMMITTEE

The National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Public Trust is now a member of the African Policy Circle (APC) Steering Committee, represented by it’s executive director, Gray Kalindekafe. This was announced during the 2024 annual APC conference which was held  recently that brought together representatives from several African think tanks.

The conference was held under the theme: “South Africa’s G20 Presidency: Steering Digital Rights Inclusion And Anti-Corruption Efforts”.South Africa will use the opportunity presented by it’s presidency of the G20 to advance the priorities of the African Unions Agenda 2063, in particular: An Africa of good governance, democracy, respect, justice and the rule of law, which corresponds to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).

Apart from incorporating Malawi’s NICE executive director into the steering fold, the conference also selected a new steering committee comprised of the following individuals from across Africa: Isabel Bosman, Steven Gruzd, Paul Kariuki, Thelma Nyarhi, Mwachofi Singo and Alida Tchinda.

APC is a key player in shaping development policy across Africa. By bringing together civil society organizations, the APC works to develop and promote common position and policy recommendations on critical issues. Their areas of focus include: strengthening human right and good governance, combating illicit financial flows, improving natural resource governance and localizing the Sutainable Development Goals (SDGs).
