NICE PARTNERS BLANTYRE PRESS CLUB
The National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Trust has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Blantyre Press Club (BPC) at an event that took place at Nalipiri Eco Lodge in Mulanje district. Speaking during the signing ceremony that happened alongside the club’s Annual General Meeting, Derex Souza, NICE’s Civic Education Programmes Officer, said the Trust believes in partnerships that translate into enhanced civic education and awareness on issues that benefit and empower Malawians.
“The media is key in shaping the narratives and therefore they are a critical component in civic education.” Souza said. “We believe working with the media will hep us to take the mandate of NICE to every Malawian through the many media houses that have members of our partner Blantyre Press Club.” He emphasized.
On his part President of BPC, Luke Chimwaza said the club is very excited to partner with NICE in amplifying messages of a number of issues that require civic education. “This is a great milestone for us at Blantyre Press Club because partnering NICE will empower our members in information dissemination so that people are aware of their civic duties.” Chimwaza added.
