People of Chiluzi in Mchinji have taken community empowerment and power to the people to another level. Their community only had two classroom blocks, and this led to overcrowding of classrooms. Empowered by the Chilungamo programme, implemented by NICE Public Trust Malawi with support from the EU, the community members mobilised themselves and started building a classroom block before lobbying their MP and Councillor to help with finishing. Their efforts paid off and, as Jabulani Beliyamu explains, the government responded to their efforts and a new block is now being built.
